Raadhya’s screen journey through Kannada films like Namma Hudugaru, Desai, and Ronny has largely seen her inhabit familiar spaces. But with The Red Bag, the actor finds herself stepping into unfamiliar territory. Directed by Ravi Kumar Seerapu, The Red Bag blends mystery, action and a character-driven narrative. For Raadhya, choosing the film to mark her Telugu debut was a conscious decision rather than an impulsive leap. “I heard a few scripts before choosing this as my debut because The Red Bag gave strong elevation to my character,” says Raadhya. “The story moves through her journey, and there was more screen space for me to showcase my performance.”

Produced by Harikrishna Somisetty under the Memory Makers banner, the thriller revolves around a mysterious bag and features Kabir Singh Duhan, Prasad Behara, senior actor Raashi and others in pivotal roles. Ravi Kumar Seerapu has written and directed the film while also handling the screenplay. The makers recently unveiled Raadhya’s character poster. That contrast, Raadhya admits, was precisely the attraction. “I like exploring characters that are not usual,” she says. “I had been waiting for a good love story, but I decided to take this up because it allowed me to explore myself differently and learn through experience.” The exploration was not merely emotional or performative. It demanded preparation. “I had many things to explore as an artist in The Red Bag. Since there is action, I attended fighting workshops and learnt bike riding. It is completely different from the usual roles I have done.”

While The Red Bag introduces her in a darker, action-heavy space, Raadhya is already thinking ahead. “My next Telugu film will be a love story that will help audiences connect with me as a lover girl,” she says. With two Kannada projects, including one with Roopesh Shetty, three Telugu films lined up and a Malayalam project under discussion, Raadhya is balancing industries and possibilities with quiet optimism.
“I’m grateful for the way my journey is moving forward,” she signs off.
