The trailer for the upcoming Kannada film Gharga: The Land of Shadow has been released. It provides a first look at a story that combines horror, crime, and investigation. The film is produced by Ashwini Ramprasad, known for supporting films like Jogi and Preeti Eke Bhoomi Mele Ide. This film also marks the acting debut of his son, Arun Ramprasad, who takes on the lead role.

Directed by M Shashidhar, who also wrote the story and screenplay, Gharga is set in a village that experiences a series of mysterious and unsettling events. Arun plays a writer and researcher whose quest for truth leads him into dangerous and unpredictable situations. He shared that his character has many dimensions, including those of a writer, an investigator, and a man facing the unknown. “Before going on camera, I trained in action, dance, and physical preparation. The role required a lot from me, and I wanted to be fully prepared,” he said.

Veteran actor Sai Kumar, who plays a significant role, found the project intriguing from the start. “When Shashidhar told the story, I knew I wanted to be part of it. This is an investigative role, and I haven't tackled such characters in a while. The film is produced on a grand scale, and I’m glad to work with Ashwini Ramprasad, who has always supported strong Kannada cinema,” he said. The actor has recently celebrated 50 years in the film industry and was honored for his contributions during the trailer launch.

Producer Ashwini Ramprasad noted that the decision to make Gharga came from the power of the story. “The script is rich in creativity and substance. This is not a typical film, and audiences will notice the difference when it releases,” he stated. The film is set to hit theaters on February 6.

The film features Rehana as the female lead, with music by RP Patnaik. Filming took place in Mangaluru, Chikkamagaluru, Dandeli, Agumbe, and Bengaluru. The film uses natural landscapes to create a suspenseful atmosphere. Distributed by N Kumar, Gharga aims to offer audiences a thrilling adventure-horror drama with elements of suspense, action, and mystery, providing a genre-focused theatrical experience.
