Team Vikalpa, which previously released the title, teaser, and songs, has increased anticipation with the launch of its official trailer before the film's release on January 30. Filmmaker Jayatheertha unveiled the trailer and spoke about psychological storytelling, new talent, and the delicate balance between imagination and reality—where Vikalpa takes place. He was particularly impressed by the dedication of a team made mostly of newcomers. He acknowledged that their commitment to creating a story-driven film encouraged him to support it. Newcomers, he added, bring fresh perspectives and keep the industry vibrant. Vikalpa, with its teaser, songs, and now the trailer, showed enough promise to earn encouragement and goodwill.

Pruthviraj Patil, who also wrote the story and screenplay, described the film as a psychological thriller centered on PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder). He explained that the narrative examines how a troubled mind navigates between illusion and reality. The team used scientific insights and expert advice to shape the characters and situations. Although the theme may seem intense, he emphasised that the film is not intended to be a heavy medical drama. Instead, it combines suspense with subtle humour and emotional depth, making the story engaging while staying true to human behaviour. For him, the real hero of the film is the story itself, with each character playing an important role in advancing the mystery.

For Nagashree Hebbar, Vikalpa is her first movie after a background in theatre. She talked about portraying a character who quietly carries emotional turmoil without dramatic outbursts. This internal struggle is what drew her to the role. She expressed confidence in both the story and her character, noting that early reactions to the film have been positive. She hopes audiences will connect emotionally with her character’s journey.

Harini Shreekanth, who plays a psychologist in the film, shared that Vikalpa provided her with a completely new acting experience. She noted that, despite the largely new team, their level of professionalism was high, and each scene was carefully planned. She emphasised the strength of the writing, the thrilling elements, the natural humor, and the realistic character portrayal, adding that viewers who appreciate strong storytelling would find the film refreshing.

The film was shot in various locations including Bengaluru, Thirthahalli, Sagara, Sirsi, Kundapura, and Yellapur, with some scenes filmed in Singapore and the Netherlands. Abhiram Gowda served as cinematographer, while Suresh Armugam took on the editing role. Music was composed by Samvatsara Sagara, with lyrics written by Pruthviraj Patil and Kaundinya Kudluthota, and vocals by Siddharth Belmannu, Samvatsara, Shreeranjini, and Inchara.
