The Kichcha Sudeep led Karnataka Bulldozers returned to the top of the Celebrity Cricket League (CCL), defeating Bengal Tigers in the final at Coimbatore and securing their third championship title. The win comes after a 12-year gap.
Chasing 130 runs, the Bulldozers faced an early blow when actor Nirup Bhandari was trapped through a leg before wicket (lbw) by Rahul Majumdar in the opening over. The setback, however, did not last long as Rajeev Hanu took charge of the innings. In a momentum-shifting knock, Rajeev raced to a half-century in just 23 balls and pushed Karnataka forward with a 69-run effort off 35 deliveries before Ratnadeep dismissed him.
Karan Aryan’s early departure added pressure, but Darling Krishna and Karthik steadied the innings with a measured partnership. Krishna looked composed during his brief stay before falling for seven, once again to Ratnadeep. The closing phase saw JK and Manjunath hold their nerve. With 10 runs required from 24 balls, Manjunath wrapped up the chase with two consecutive boundaries, sparking celebrations among players and fans.
Earlier, Bengal Tigers posted 129 in 20 overs. Karnataka’s bowling unit delivered a disciplined performance, with Prathap picking up three wickets, while Sunil added two crucial breakthroughs.
The victory adds another chapter to the Bulldozers’ CCL journey. Despite their consistent presence in the tournament, the team had endured six runner-up finishes over the years. Their previous title wins came in 2013 and 2014, making this triumph a significant return to form.
For Sudeep, the win reinforces his strong connect with fans, both on screen and on the cricket field. The Bulldozers enjoy a loyal fan following, with Sudeep’s leadership often seen as a driving force behind the team’s energy and visibility in the league.
Karnataka’s road to the trophy this season included wins over Punjab De Sher, Telugu Warriors and Bhojpuri Dabanggs, followed by a closely fought semi-final victory against Chennai Rhinos, setting up a fitting finish to their campaign.
