“Love is rare, don’t lose it.” That thought forms the emotional thread of the latest song, 'Onde Chandra', from City Lights, directed by Vijay Kumar. The fourth song from the film was released on Tuesday, offering a romantic glimpse into the world of Vinay Rajkumar and Monisha Vijaya Kumar.
Unlike a conventional film song, this track draws from the lives of real couples who came to Bengaluru from different parts of the state and built a life together in the city. Their photographs feature in the song, giving it a personal touch and connecting its theme of love to the experiences of people who have made Bengaluru their home.
The song's lyrics written by Nagarjuna Sharma, music by Charan Raj and vocals by Anthony Dasan. The lines revolve around the idea of holding on to love despite outside opinions, with the song celebrating the affection shared between couples.
Young actors Siddu Moolimani, Payal Changappa and Sudhakar Gowda released the song and extended their wishes to the team. Siddu said the song reminded him of his wife and praised the way it has been put together.
For Vijay Kumar, the song is also a tribute to the couples who inspired it. He revealed that the team searched for real couples who had moved to Bengaluru and built their lives together, photographing them and using those images in the song. Interestingly, the track will not feature in the film and will be available only on YouTube.
Vinay Rajkumar, who plays the lead alongside debutant Monisha Vijaya Kumar, said the song captures the depth of love and that every couple creates a world of their own.
City Lights marks Vijay Kumar’s third directorial after Salaga and Bheema. The film explores the lives of people who move from a village to Bengaluru in search of a better life. It is scheduled to hit theatres on September 18.
