Actor Darshan Thoogudeepa has completed a year in jail in connection with the Renukaswamy murder case, with his wife Vijayalakshmi expressing anguish over the prolonged legal ordeal and saying that the pain has not healed.
In a social media post put up recently, Vijayalakshmi posted a picture of her with Darshan and said that a year had passed since Darshan was sent back to prison, but the emotional pain remained unchanged.
“It has already been a year. The pain remains the same. The wound has still not healed. I am unable to bear this pain,” she wrote on her post.
Referring to the public commentary surrounding the case, Vijayalakshmi said people often pass judgment without knowing the circumstances. She added that she had stopped trying to explain the situation to others and had instead left everything to time and God.
“I have stopped explaining everything to them. Now, I simply smile and have left everything to time and God,” she wrote.
The post comes a day after Darshan suffered another setback in the case before the Karnataka High Court. On Thursday, August 13, the court dismissed his petition challenging a trial court order concerning co-accused Pradosh's application to turn approver.
Pradosh, accused No 14 in the case, has sought permission to become an approver, or a prosecution witness who provides evidence against the other accused. Darshan and the other accused had sought an opportunity to oppose the application before the trial court. Their request, however, was rejected by the 59th Additional City Civil and Sessions Court in Bengaluru.
Darshan then approached the High Court challenging the order. Justice M. Nagaprasanna dismissed the petition, holding that co-accused do not have a right to oppose an application under Section 306 of the Code of Criminal Procedure at the stage when the court is considering whether an accused should be permitted to become an approver.
The order does not mean that Pradosh has already been made an approver. His request remains subject to the judicial process.
Earlier, Vijayalakshmi had also shared a photograph of Goddess Kamakhya on social media, accompanied by the words, “God knows, and that is enough.” She had added a song containing the lines, “Where will you run, O human? All your karma ends here,” apparently reflecting her state of mind amid the continuing legal proceedings.
Darshan was arrested in June 2024 in connection with the killing of Renukaswamy, a resident of Chitradurga whose body was found in Bengaluru. The prosecution has alleged that Darshan and several others were involved in the murder and related offences.
Darshan was granted bail in December 2024. However, the Supreme Court cancelled the bail in August 2025, following which he was taken back into custody on August 14 last year.
A year later, Darshan remains in custody as the case proceeds through the courts. The High Court's latest order is another setback for the actor as the proceedings concerning Pradosh's request to become an approver move forward.
