Telugu actor Sunil has heaped praise on KGF: Chapter 2, calling it the most heroic film he has seen and crediting it with setting a benchmark for commercial cinema. Sunil, who is currently in Karnataka shooting for the Kannada film Jodettu, spoke to the media about his admiration for Kannada cinema and the films that have left a lasting impression on him. The actor said he has followed Kannada films for years, beginning with the works of Kashinath and Upendra, and has watched several films that were dubbed, remade or released in Telugu.
Among them, it was KGF: Chapter 2, starring Yash and directed by Prashanth Neel, that stood out the most for Sunil. "I had watched KGF and liked it. But KGF: Chapter 2 surpassed the first film by a huge margin. I have never seen a film with that level of hero elevation. From the opening scene to the end, it was packed with heroism. Everything about it, including its scale and music, was extraordinary. It showed how a commercial hero-centric film should be made," Sunil said.
The actor added that he had never before watched a film that maintained such a high level of hero elevation throughout its runtime, describing it as an unforgettable theatrical experience.
Sunil's remarks come at a time when Kannada cinema continues to draw attention across the country with films that have found audiences beyond the state. Over the past few years, Kannada productions such as the KGF franchise, Kantara, 777 Charlie and Sapta Sagaradaache Ello have earned both commercial success and critical acclaim, helping expand the industry's reach.
Sunil is no stranger to Kannada cinema. He appeared alongside Kichcha Sudeep in Max and is now part of Jodettu, headlined by Chikkanna. Directed by Sudhakar and produced by Kattigenahalli Somashekhar, Jodettu recently wrapped up filming of its climax with a large-scale schedule on the outskirts of Mysuru involving thousands of junior artistes.
Sunil began his career as a comedian in Telugu cinema before successfully transitioning into lead and character roles. Over the years, he has appeared in popular films such as Nuvvu Nenu, Manmadhudu, Maryada Ramanna, Poola Rangadu, Color Photo, Pushpa: The Rise, Pushpa 2: The Rule, Game Changer and Pushpa 2, besides playing memorable antagonist and supporting roles in recent years.
