The title of debutant director Prashanth YN's Mr Kalyan Kumar was unveiled by five Kannada music composers—Arjun Janya, V Manohar, Anoop Seelin, Sridhar V Sambhram, and Dr V Nagendra Prasad—in an unusual launch event that the makers say reflects the film's musical vision.
Produced by M Narasimha Babu and Jagadish M under the Sri Renuka Yellamma Devi Combines banner, Mr Kalyan Kumar marks Prashanth's first feature as a director after more than a decade of working in the Kannada film industry. Over the years, he has served as an assistant director, associate director, co-director, dubbing artiste, and writer on several projects.
Speaking about the title launch, Prashanth said the team deliberately chose to have five composers unveil the title because they are planning to experiment with the film's music. "We wanted the title launch itself to reflect that idea," he said.
Hari Prasad, who has previously appeared in lead roles in a couple of Kannada films, has been cast in the titular role. The makers are yet to finalise the rest of the cast.
The film's technical crew includes dialogue writer Abhinandan Deshapriya and editor Ujwal Chandra, while the rest of the technicians and actors will be announced in the coming weeks.
The team has completed the script puja and is preparing to begin production, with a muhurat ceremony planned for the end of next month before the film goes on floors.
The first-look poster carries the tagline, 'With the blessings of all singles,' offering the first clue about the film's premise. While the makers have not disclosed story details, the tagline suggests that Mr Kalyan Kumar could centre on the life of an unmarried man
