The trailer launch of Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups turned into a celebration of the people behind the film, with actor Huma Qureshi expressing her excitement about being part of one of the year's most anticipated releases. Opening her speech with a warm "Namaskara" and a line in Kannada, Huma said Bengaluru has always held a special place in her heart. She revealed that ever since she signed Toxic, she has been asked one question wherever she goes: "Tell us something about Toxic." Laughing, she added that even when she chooses not to reveal anything, every small update about the film ends up going viral, which, according to her, explains the excitement surrounding the project.
Having watched the trailer alongside the audience, Huma admitted she was mesmerised. "What Geetu and Yash have created is so beautiful. Sitting there and watching the trailer, I felt so honoured to be a part of this wonderful team, this incredible cast and crew," she said.
The actor reserved special praise for director Geetu Mohandas, calling her "an amazing captain" who leads the team with clarity and sensitivity. She said she admired the way the filmmaker had written both women and men in the film. On being repeatedly asked about her character, Huma smiled and said, "I always tell people to wait. I can't reveal anything. The film will speak for itself."
She also thanked lead actor Yash, saying she had learnt a great deal from him during the making of the film. Wrapping up her speech, she summed up the anticipation in the room with a grin: "I'm just so excited to watch the film. Can we just release it now?"
Produced by KVN Productions in association with Monster Mind Creations, Toxic is set to release on August 26, Wednesday. It is directed by Geetu Mohandas and also stars Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Rukmini Vasanth, and Tara Sutaria, among others.
