After spending more than two decades in cinema, Diganth Manchale is facing one of the toughest phases of his career. Speaking on the sidelines of the launch of his upcoming Kannada film Rudra Kaala, the actor shares an honest and emotional account of the challenges within the industry. Diganth reveals that opportunities have become increasingly limited, even for actors with experience and recognition. According to him, the Kannada film industry is currently going through a period of uncertainty, with many producers hesitant to invest in new projects. The situation has been further affected by the lack of strong support from OTT platforms, making it harder for films to reach audiences and recover costs.
Highlighting the emotional and financial pressure he experienced, he adds, “At one point, things became so uncertain that I seriously thought about quitting acting." Diganth shares that he had rented out his house in Bengaluru, and was living off that income. “I even considered going back to my hometown, Thirthahalli, and taking up agriculture. It felt like a more stable and dependable life,” he adds. He also notes about how quickly the situation has changed. Just a few months ago, producers had approached him with film offers, only to later withdraw due to unfavorable market conditions. “There’s a sense of fear across the industry. People are unsure about taking risks,” he explains. Despite these challenges, Diganth Manchale remains hopeful about what lies ahead. He is currently working on Rudra Kaala and will also be seen alongside Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the Telugu film Maa Inti Bangaram. He believes these projects could mark a turning point in his career and is looking forward to better opportunities in the days to come.
