April 24 marks Dr Rajkumar's birth anniversary, and fans are once again soaked in emotion, and this time, part of the reason is Mohanlal. As part of the celebrations of Dr Rajkumar’s birth anniversary, Mohanlal won hearts by singing the evergreen song 'Endendu Ninnanu Marethu Badukiralare' from the film Eradu Kanasu recently at an event in the USA. What makes it special this time is that he sang it without referring to the lyrics, and the video is now going viral across social media.
This isn’t the first time Mohanlal has sung the song. Around two years ago, he had rendered it and caught attention then as well. But this time, his expression, simplicity, and affection for the Kannada language stand out more clearly. Rajkumar fans have responded emotionally, calling it a “true tribute”.
The song originally featured in the 1974 film Eradu Kanasu, with music composed by Rajan–Nagendra and vocals by PB Sreenivas and Vani Jairam. Even today, it remains a treasured classic in Kannada cinema music.
Mohanlal shares a special connection with Kannada cinema. He acted alongside Puneeth Rajkumar in the film Mythri. During that time, he had expressed deep admiration for Dr Rajkumar and mentioned that he always wished to act with him.
Recently, while on a US tour, Mohanlal had gone viral for singing a song from his own Malayalam film. Now, with this Kannada rendition, he has once again won over Kannada audiences. It’s a reminder of how music transcends language and connects people.
Meanwhile, Mohanlal remains busy with upcoming projects, with particular anticipation around Drishyam 3.
