On the occasion of Parashurama Jayanthi, Hombale Films has announced the next film in its Mahavatar Cinematic Universe. Titled Mahavatar Parashuraam, the film is directed by Ashwin Kumar and produced in association with Kleem Production. The film is set to release in December 2027.
This film is part of a bigger lineup that the studio has planned. It began with Mahavatar Narasimha in 2025. After Parashuraam, additional titles are scheduled till 2037, culminating in a two-part Mahavatar Kalki. The films are spaced out over the next decade, indicating a well-thought-out rollout rather than a rush to expand.
The films in the Mahavatar Cinematic Universe, are based on the stories of Vishnu's Dashavatar from the Hindu Pantheon. Starting with the story of Narasimha Avatar, it is set to chronicle the story of Parashuram, Ram, and Krishna, among others.
Choosing Parashuraam also introduces a different aspect to the narrative. As a warrior sage, this character presents a more internal and disciplined conflict compared to the intense nature of Narasimha. This choice may allow the universe to explore different tones within the same mythological framework.
The next instalments in the film series are Mahavatar Raghunandan, which is releasing in 2029, Mahavatar Dwarkadhesh, which is releasing in 2031, Mahavatar Gokulananda, which is releasing in 2033, and culminating with the two-part Mahavatar Kalki, which are releasing between 2035 and 2037.
