Celebrated actor Ramesh Aravind turned a year older with a cinematic gift — the unveiling of Daiji’s first teaser. The film, set in the horror genre, has already sparked interest with its content, striking visuals, and dark mood. The glimpse offers an unusual blend of cosmic forces, the symbolism of a sunflower, and subtle shades of horror — all explored by Ramesh Aravind as an artist along with other actors in one compelling story.
Speaking at the event, Ramesh shed light on the film’s deeper theme: “Life begins with birth and ends with death. But what lies in between is love. And what if death itself isn’t the end? Then comes a force darker than imagination, carrying love into the beyond. That’s the essence of Daiji.”
Ramesh Aravind, who plays Surya in the film, praised his collaborators: “I see a spark in Akash Srivatsa, and I am glad I have collaborated with him. He has created a horror story unlike anything I’ve seen before. Ravi Kashyap’s passion as a producer is boundless, Radhika Narayan is an actor of great depth, and Diganth brings a youthful charm I truly enjoy. I also had the chance to work with noted international actors. I’m eagerly waiting to watch Daiji on the big screen.”
Producer Ravi Kashyap, recalling the project’s long journey, shared, “Over a decade ago, I had narrated this idea to director Akash Srivatsa. It was inspired by a real incident I witnessed abroad. Today, that story has finally taken shape on screen. Our technicians and cast have delivered something on par with any Hollywood horror film, and we look forward to bringing Daiji to audiences soon.”
Director Akash Srivatsa highlighted the uncanny coincidences surrounding the film: “This is my third collaboration with Ramesh Aravind, my third film with Radhika Narayan, and even my third outing with Ravi Kashyap. The story felt tailor-made for Ramesh sir, and he instantly connected to the role of Surya. Radhika plays Bhoomi, while Diganth takes on the part of Gagan, Surya’s brother. Daiji means ‘God of Spirits,’ and it explores love and life through a lens rarely seen in horror cinema. We plan to release the film by year-end or early next year.”
With cinematography by Shreesha Kuduvalli and music by Judah Sandhy, the star cast also includes Avinash, KS Sridhar, Alexandra Taylor, Nidhi Hegade, and actor BM Giriraj. The film is written by Abhijith, with Sunayana Suresh as the casting director. Ravi Kashyap is bankrolling the project under the banner Vibha Kashyap Productions, while Akash Srivatsa is handling the editing. The team plans to release Daiji in winter; however, the official release date is yet to be revealed.
Apart from Daiji, Ramesh Aravind has Your Sincerely Ram, which is at a different stage of production.
