Srinivas Timmaiah is back with his next project, Konark, which officially went on floors with a traditional launch at Sri Durga Parameshwari Temple in Nagarabhavi. The film is produced under the Mavinamara Films banner, with a team of friends coming together as backers, and features Dhanush and Falguni Khanna in the lead roles.
The muhurtha ceremony was held in the presence of several dignitaries and members of the team.
Speaking at the event, Srinivas Timmaiah shared that Konark has been in the making for over two years in terms of story development. “Konark means the light that falls on Earth from the Sun, and the title perfectly matches the soul of our story,” he said. Along with the lead pair, the ensemble cast includes Abhijit, Harry Josh, Sudharani, Ramesh Indira, B Suresh, Raj Deepak Shetty, and Yash Shetty. Timmaiah has also written the story, screenplay, and dialogues.
The film boasts a strong technical crew — Shyam CS (music), Sanketh Mysore (cinematography), KM Prakash (editing), stunts by Dr Ravi Varma, Arjun, Chetan D’Souza, Vinod, and Vikram, with choreography by Bhushan and Moin.
The first schedule is planned in South Africa this October, followed by shoots in Mumbai, Goa, Karwar, Honnavar, Bengaluru, and Mysore.
Actor Dhanush, recalling his long association with the director, said, “I have known Srinivas for six years now. I was deeply impressed by his work in Naanu Matthu Gunda and always wanted to work under his direction. With Konark, the time has come, and the story is very powerful.”
For lead actress Falguni Khanna, who hails from Delhi and is based in Mumbai, Konark marks her Kannada debut after previously working in Telugu cinema. Senior actor Abhijit added that the director’s narration convinced him instantly to be part of the film.
