The spotlight is back on Roopesh Shetty, the Bigg Boss fame actor-director, who is all set to return with his third directorial, Jai. The director comes back with a compelling narrative that promises to strike the perfect balance between local politics and Tulu culture. Not only is Roopesh Shetty behind the camera, but he also stars in the lead role and has contributed significantly to the script.
Sriimurali, who recently unveiled the film’s teaser, couldn’t hide his excitement, calling it “absolutely fantastic” and praising the collective effort of the team. He also took a moment to commend Roopesh Shetty’s commitment to preserving Tulu culture in cinema. “I’ve been following Roopesh’s journey since Bigg Boss, and it’s inspiring to see him step up to such a major challenge. I wish him all the success, especially for bringing Sunil Shetty into the project,” Sriimurali shared.
For Roopesh Shetty, Jai marks a monumental chapter in his career. “This is my third directorial,” he said. “The film delves into local politics in coastal regions. We’ve made it a Tulu film, but it’s also been dubbed in Kannada to reach a wider audience. Having Sunil Shetty on board is a blessing, as he’s taken on a pivotal role in the film and didn’t charge a penny for it, which speaks volumes about his dedication.”
The film, now in post-production, is slated for a November 14 release in both Tulu and Kannada.
Actress Adhvithi Shetty, making her debut in Tulu cinema, became emotional when speaking about the film’s significance to her. “This is a dream come true,” she said. “My father always wanted to see me in a Tulu film, and though he’s no longer with us, this feels like his blessing.” Playing a journalist in the film, Adhvithi added, “The whole team has given their all to this project. We need your support to make this film a success.”
Produced under the banner of RS Cinemas, Shoolin Films, and Mugrodi Productions, Jai was shot across three schedules. Roopesh Shetty and Venu Hasralli co-wrote the story, with renowned Tulu writer Prasanna Shetty Bailur penning the dialogues. The
technical team includes Vinuth as cinematographer, music by Loy Valentine Saldanha and Rahul Vasishta as editor.
