Rishab Shetty, continues to combine faith and filmmaking with a unique sense of devotion. After the nationwide success of Kantara: Chapter 1, produced by Vijay Kiragandur’s Hombale Films, the actor-director visited Mysuru on Thursday to offer prayers at the Chamundeshwari Temple.
Speaking to the media after his visit, Rishab said, “I took the blessings of Chamundeshwari thaayi. The success of Kantara: Chapter 1 belongs to the people who embraced our effort. Our team’s hard work has been recognised.” He emphasised that the film’s triumph belongs first to Kannadigas, recalling how Kantara was rooted in their love before becoming a global hit.
Hailing from Kundapura, Rishab shared that his journey from a small coastal town to international recognition has been guided by faith and blessings. “I have a strong faith in the divine. Whenever I portray sacred elements on screen, I seek guidance from elders to ensure authenticity. There’s a special bond between me and the divine; this success truly feels like a blessing,” he said.
He also made a heartfelt request to fans to approach divine celebrations in theaters with discipline and respect. “Worship is sacred. It must be done in the right spirit, not in chaos. Please maintain that dignity,” he added.
When asked about criticisms suggesting that Kantara may have offended certain beliefs, Rishab responded calmly. “We made the film with utmost respect. It was created under the guidance of elders. People will always have opinions, but we stayed true to our values,” he said.
Written and directed by Rishab Shetty, Kantara: Chapter 1 stars Rishab in the lead along with Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, Gulshan Devaiah, and Prakash Thuminad among the ensemble. The film features music by Ajaneesh Loknath, with cinematography by Arvind S Kashyap and editing by Suresh Mallaiah.
