Rukmini Vasanth is having a busy 2025. The year began with the release of Ace in which she starred alongside Vijay Sethupathi, marking her Tamil debut. Her next release was the AR Murugadoss directorial, Madharaasi, which was headlined by Sivakarthikeyan. But she returned to Kannada cinema with Rishab Shetty's Kantara: Chapter 1.

In a interview with CE, the actor said, "It was so clear from the audience's response that Kantara was made with immense love and devotion. So when you step into this world as an actor, it becomes important to understand the cultural context and its rootedness, so that you can do the utmost justice to it."

Rukmini joins the cast of Kantara: Chapter 1, as Kanakavathi. Speaking about joining a film with an established universe, the actor said, "t was nerve-wracking in the beginning. With the original team reuniting and me being the new entrant, it felt daunting."

But she also credits Rishab Shetty for helping her understand the world of Kantara. "Rishab Shetty explained it to me with patience. Until then, I was not aware of bhoota kola, daiva, or many of the Dakshina Kannada cultural aspects. This helped me understand the world of Kantara," said the actor.

Written, directed and headlined by Rishab Shetty, Kantara: Chapter 1 has grossed Rs 509 crores in its worldwide collections. Rukmini will be seen alongside Yash in Geetu Mohandas' Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown- Ups.
