Apart from Rishab Shetty as Berme, Rukmini Vasanth as Kanakavathi and Gulshan Devaiah as Kulashekara, there were several characters in Rishab Shetty's latest film Kantara: Chapter 1 who captured hearts despite their limited screen time. One among them was actor Rakesh Poojary, who played a key role as Peppe, Booba's (Naveen D Padil) son. Poojary's portrayal as the Peppe - whose transformation from being the feared jailer to fighting against the kingdom, supporting Berme - won hearts worldwide. However, Poojary passed away before the release of the film in May this year due to a sudden cardiac arrest.

Rakesh Poojary, fondly called as Vishwaroop, earned fame through his presence on Comedy Khiladigalu season 2 in 2018 where he won the second place, and in season 3 where he won the first position, garnering immense praise for his fun and quirky personality. He hailed from Karkala, Udupi.

The actor's filmography includes roles in Pailwan, Itu Entha Lokavayya, Petkammi, and Ammer Police, among others. He debuted in 2014 with Whisky Is Risky.
