The other day, the Kantara: Chapter 1 costume designer, Rishab's wife Pragathi Shetty, recalled her experience working on the film. She shared some behind-the-scenes stills from the film's set on Instagram and wrote, "Being a part of Kantara: Chapter 1 has been a truly unforgettable journey." In one of her recent interviews with CE, Pragathi said, "I have always seen fashion designing as passion, not livelihood. I wanted to breathe every costume I designed." She doubled down on her thoughts in the latest post in the context of the epic film. "Designing costumes for a story so rooted, raw, and divine was more than work. It was an emotion," Pragathi wrote. She went on to add, "Grateful to have woven a small part of t his magnificent vision."
More than an element that contributes to Kantara's aesthetics, the costumes play a role in establishing the historical setting of the film. Representing the historical context, the costumes play an important factor in the world-building in the film, especially its portrayal of the spiritual customs of people in the Tulunadu region.
