Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: Chapter 1 continues to go from strength to strength at the box office, breaking records each day. Directed and headlined by Rishab Shetty, and produced by Vijay Kiragandur under Hombale Films, the multilingual release has completed a week since its grand debut, and the frenzy only seems to grow stronger.
After a humongous opening weekend and a rock-solid hold on Monday, the film witnessed another surge on Tuesday, raking in over ₹33.5 crore across India and pushing its domestic total beyond ₹300 crore. The Hindi version alone added ₹10.5–11.5 crore on its sixth day, showing a 20% jump and taking its six-day total to more than ₹93 crore. By Wednesday, it is expected to cross the ₹100 crore mark in Hindi, becoming the first South Indian film of 2025 to achieve this milestone.
Across all versions, Kantara: Chapter 1 has stormed past an astonishing ₹400 crore worldwide in just six days, making it the first Kannada film of the year to reach this landmark. It now stands among a select few Indian blockbusters ruling the global box office in 2025, alongside Chhaava, Coolie, and Saiyaara.
As a prequel to the 2022 blockbuster Kantara, this chapter dives deep into the roots of the Daiva tradition, exploring the sacred connection between humans, nature, and divinity. With Arvind Kashyap’s breathtaking visuals and Ajaneesh Loknath’s powerful score, the film offers a haunting, immersive experience. From its rooted storytelling to Rishab’s commanding performance, Kantara: Chapter 1 is not just breaking records, it is rewriting cinematic devotion.
The film’s box-office run is being described not merely as a success, but as a phenomenon. In Karnataka, crowds continue to throng theatres, while in North India, the Gulf, and select overseas markets, Rishab Shetty’s storytelling, steeped in mysticism and folklore, has left audiences in awe.
