Actor Harish Rai, remembered for his roles in films such as Om, the KGF films, and several 1990s blockbusters, has passed away after a prolonged battle with thyroid cancer.

Over the years, Harish established himself as a versatile performer, moving effortlessly between villainous roles and nuanced character parts. He gained wide recognition for his portrayal of the intimidating yet memorable antagonists of the 1990s, while audiences also cherished his warm and endearing performance as 'Chacha' in KGF: Chapter 1 and Chapter 2.

Harish’s contribution to cinema extended both in Kannada and with notable appearances in Tamil films including Underworld, Meendum Oru Kaadhal Kathai, Raj Bahadur, Sanju Weds Geetha, and Swayamvara. Other key Kannada films in his career include Bhooghat, Nanna Kanasina Hoove, Nalla, Jodi Hakki, and Thayavva to name a few, and his dedication to craft was evident in every performance, whether as a chilling villain, a loyal supporting character, or a memorable cameo.

Behind the camera, Harish faced a long and difficult battle with thyroid cancer, which had visibly affected his health over the past few years.
