Agnyathavasi gets streaming release date

Agnyathavasi, the thriller that opened to rave reviews and appreciation from audiences in April this year, is set to release on ZEE5 on May 28, 2025. The Janardhan Chikkanna directorial and Hemanth M Rao production stars Rangayana Raghu as a police officer looking into criminal activity at his village. The cop's peaceful existence as a man of agriculture ceases to exist when his otherwise tranquil village gets a case, involving the mysterious death of a scholar, after a long time. The ensuing investigation leads the officer to the dark underbelly of his village with superstition and sinister secrets.

An excerpt from our review of the film reads, Agnyathavasi "is not your typical whodunit. There are no ticking clocks or rapid cuts. Instead, Janardhan Chikkanna offers a procedural that unfolds like a puja—ritualistic, circular, and spiritual."

Legendary actor Rangayana Raghu's performance has earned plaudits from critics and viewers alike, with some calling it his career-defining role. In an interview with CE, director Janardhan Chikkanna said that his "planned sequel to Gultoo organically became Agnyathavasi." The film also stars Pavana Gowda, Siddhu Moolimani, Sharath Lohithashwa, Ravi Shankar Gowda, and Yamuna Srinidhi.
