Actor Santhosh Balaraj, known for his work in Kannada cinema, passed away on August 5 in Bengaluru. He was 38.
Santhosh had been undergoing treatment for jaundice at Sagar Apollo Hospital in Kumaraswamy Layout. Despite efforts by the medical team, his condition deteriorated, and he slipped into a coma before passing away this morning around 10 am.
The son of noted producer Anekal Balaraj, Santhosh was being groomed to carry forward his father’s legacy in the Kannada film industry. He made his acting debut with Kempa in 2009 and went on to appear in films such as Olavina Udugore, Janma, Ganapa, Barkley, Kariya 2, and Satyam. While commercial success eluded him on a larger scale, his performances were marked by sincerity and potential.
Santhosh's father, Anekal Balaraj, is famously known for producing films like the blockbuster Kariya, starring Darshan. He introduced his son to the industry under his home banner. The family suffered a setback in 2022 when Anekal Balaraj passed away. Santhosh had been slowly rebuilding his path, both professionally and personally.
Known for his humble nature and friendly personality, Santhosh was deeply loved by those who worked with him. He was also preparing for his wedding, which was to take place soon.
He is survived by his mother and sister, who now grieve yet another devastating loss in the family.
