Noted actor and beloved TV anchor Aparna Vastarey has passed away after battling cancer for the past two years. She was 58. Her distinctive voice, which she lent to many programs on DD Chandana and to Vividh Bharati, later became familiar to commuters through Bengaluru’s Namma Metro announcements. This was just one aspect of her illustrious career spanning films, television, and radio.

Aparna began her acting journey with the iconic film Masanada Hoovu, directed by the legendary Puttanna Kanagal. Her early talent shone alongside Rebel Star Ambareesh in this adaptation of TR Subba Rao's novel. She showcased her versatility in roles such as in Inspector Vikram, where she starred alongside Shivarajkumar. She also acted in films like Dr Krishna and Onti Salaga. The actor recently portrayed an important role in Grey Games, and she was set to play a pivotal part in the upcoming film Gramayana, starring Vinay Rajkumar.

Beyond her film work, Aparna was a familiar face on television, captivating audiences in serials like Moodalmane and Mukta. Her charm and professionalism extended to hosting popular TV shows, including her notable stint on Maja Talkies (2015), where she caught attention of the viewers with her warmth and wit and popularly by name 'One and Only Varalakshmi'. She was also a contestant on the inaugural season of Bigg Boss Kannada in 2013.
