In a significant legal development, the Karnataka High Court granted bail on Friday to actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, who was previously granted interim bail on medical grounds. The bail applies to not only Darshan but also other accused in the case, including Pavithra Gowda, Anu Kumar, Nagarju R, Lakshman M, Jagadeesh, and Pradoosh. Darshan and others were arrested on June 11, 2024, in connection with the kidnapping and brutal murder of Renukaswamy, a fan from Chitradurga. According to the police, Renukaswamy allegedly sent offensive and inappropriate messages to Pavithra Gowda, which led to the fatal incident. Renukaswamy’s body was discovered on June 8, 2024, near the Sumanahalli Bridge in Bengaluru.

A 3,991-page charge sheet has been filed by the police, detailing the accusations against Darshan and the other individuals. Darshan, as for his projects, has Devil: The Hero directed by Prakash Jayaram. He had signed a project with Media House Studios for a project directed by Tharun Kishore Sudhir, as well as a film with Telugu producers.
