Aamir Khan calls himself a big fan of Upendra, praises UI trailer

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has expressed his admiration for Kannada actor-director Upendra after watching the trailer of the highly anticipated film UI. Aamir was visibly impressed by the trailer and shared his excitement during an interaction with Upendra, calling it "mind-blowing." Directed by Upendra, UI is set to release in multiple languages on December 20, 2024.

Aamir Khan, known for his keen eye for creativity, praised the UI trailer as a masterpiece of imagination. In a video message, Aamir said, “Hello everyone, I’m here with someone I’m a big fan of—Upendra. His movie UI is releasing on December 20. The trailer is absolutely amazing. I was shocked by it. It's unbelievable! I believe the film will not only do well in Kannada but also connect with audiences across India, including Hindi-speaking regions.”

Aamir went on to describe Upendra as a creative genius and wished the film tremendous success: “I’m sure it’s going to be a massive hit. Hindi audiences will love it too. Upendra, what a trailer you’ve made! I’m excited to see the film. All the best.”

Touched by Aamir’s kind words, Upendra thanked the Bollywood star on social media, calling it a “dream come true” moment. He wrote, “Dear Aamir sir, it was a dream come true to meet you and seek your blessings for UI. Thanks for your love and support.”

UI is a dystopian drama set in the year 2040, marking Upendra's return as a director after Uppi 2 (2015). Fans have eagerly awaited this project, and the trailer has certainly raised expectations.

UI passes the censor board with U/A certification ahead of release

With only a few days left for the global release of UI, the film has been granted a UA (Universal Adult) certification by the regional censor board ahead of its release on December 20.

Producer KP Sreekanth, who is backing the project under the Venus Entertainers banner alongside G Manoharan of Lahari Films, shared the exciting news on social media: “Certified U/A – Unstoppable Action. UI is coming with fire and fury to give you all a spectacular feast on the big screen!”

The team recently released a sneak peek into UI, calling it a 'warner' to highlight global issues like climate change, war, inflation, and AI. Upendra emphasised that his film is not just entertainment but a message to the world, blending social commentary with thrilling dystopian action.

The film stars Reeshma Nanaiah, Ravi Shankar, Sadhu Kokila, Nidhi Subaiah, with Ajaneesh Loknath as the music director.
