The first half of 2024 saw what one could call a dull response to several notable Kannada films, with only a few hits like Kaatera, starring Darshan, which was released on December 29, 2023, and Chikkanna's Upadhyaksha. Since then, many films have struggled with minimal showings and declining theatre attendance. However, after months, the industry experienced a revival with the success of Bheema and now Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi, which is rekindling hope.

The film, starring 'Golden Star' Ganesh alongside Malavika Nair and Sharanya Shetty, released on August 15 across Karnataka. It is projected to gross over Rs 6 crore from the Wednesday premiere through Sunday. Despite facing stiff competition from more than 11 films, Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi has seen strong ticket sales on BookMyShow in the state.

Golden Star Ganesh, who is celebrating the success of the film, is thrilled by the enthusiastic response. At the success meet event, he expressed his gratitude: “I thank the Kannada audience for showing so much love and support for Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi. Even before the movie’s release, the songs became superhits. Although I seldom visit theatres, I made an exception for this film and was amazed by the audience’s response.”

It has become a trend in the Kannada industry for fans to address their favourite stars with the term ‘Boss.’ Ganesh’s fans have also called him ‘G Boss,’ but this did not sit well with the actor. He addressed this at the success meet: “I’ve noticed some fans calling me ‘G Boss.’ Please do not use this term. You fondly refer to me as 'Golden Star', and I am deeply grateful for that. More than anything, I consider myself one of your family members.”

The makers anticipate even higher figures as additional showings are scheduled, and director Srinivas Raju is optimistic about the film’s future performance. He stated that since there were so many films, they did not have many shows, which gradually improved within a day of release. “The film is expected to exceed expectations as more shows are added. Family audiences, who are a key demographic for 'Golden Star' Ganesh films, are returning to theaters. We anticipate seeing stronger numbers starting Monday.”

Produced by Prashanth G. Rudrappa and distributed by KVN Productions, Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi will also be released overseas starting September 1, with confirmed releases in Dubai, Australia, and the USA. The film features an ensemble cast including Rangayana Raghu, Sadhu Kokila, Ramakrishna, Ashok, Shurthi, and Shashikumar.
