Kaatera director Tharun Kishore Sudhir and actor Sonal Monteiro tied the knot on Friday, August 11, in a beautiful traditional Hindu ceremony in Bengaluru. The wedding was a perfect blend of cultural richness and traditional values.
The couple exchanged vows under a stunning pavilion inspired by South Indian temples, surrounded by elaborate decorations. The mandapam echoed with the chanting of mantras and the mangalya dharana ritual, where Tharun tied the sacred knot to Sonal in the presence of their family and close friends.
Tharun's close friends, including actors Sharan and Prem, as well as cinematographer Sudhakar S Raj, were involved in overseeing the wedding preparations. It’s been a journey from friendship to marriage for Tharun and Sonal. The couple's relationship, which started during their work on Roberrt, was made public with a special cinematic-themed video.
The night before the wedding, on August 10, a grand reception was held, attended by many prominent figures from the film industry and politics. Former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, DK Shivarajkumar, producer Rockline Venkatesh, and celebrities like Yogaraj Bhatt, Upendra, Rishab Shetty, Malashree, with daughter Aaradhana, Bhavana, Shruti and family, and Hamsalekha were among the guests. Actors Shivarajkumar, Rachita Ram, singer Vijay Prakash, Telugu actor, Jagapathi Babu made their presence at the wedding ceremony. Also present were composer V Harikrishna, actor Shylaja Nag and her filmmaker husband B Suresha, and actor Meghana Gaonkar.
Tharun Sudhir, the son of veteran Kannada actor Sudhir and Malathi and the brother of Nanda Kishore, made his directorial debut with Chowka. Tharun gained fame with Roberrt and Kaatera, both of which were major hits. Sonal Monteiro, hailing from Mangaluru, began her career in Tulu cinema and made her Kannada debut with Panchatantra. She gained recognition with her role in Tharun's Roberrt, where their friendship blossomed into a relationship and eventually led to their wedding.
Post-ceremony, Tharun expressed his gratitude: “I am thankful for everyone who joined us on this special day. Even though I’m a bit late to marriage, I’m fortunate to have found the best person in my life.” He also spoke fondly of his friend Darshan, who couldn’t attend. “I had three possible dates, but we chose August 11. Although Darshan was in prison and couldn’t be with us, he supported our decision, and his blessings are with us.”
Sonal Monteiro echoed Tharun’s sentiments about Darshan: “He is an important part of our lives, and we miss him dearly. We look forward to seeing him soon and receiving his blessings.”
