Ramya's Swathi Muttinha Male Haniye takes a legal turn

Seems like Ramya's first production venture, Swathi Mutthina Male Haniye, directed by Raj B Shetty is in for a bumpy ride ahead. Previously the film, swapped its female lead right before the shooting and Siri Ravikumar replaced Ramya.

The project which is in post-production work has hit a roadblock because of its title. Veteran director Rajendra Singh Babu has filed an injunction against using the film's title, Swathi Mutthina Male Haniya. He has stated that he owns the title and it was registered for a film, which starred the late Ambareesh, and Suhasini. Unfortunately, the film, which was through with eighty percent shooting could not be completed.  The director also mentioned that the title was derived from the song Swathi Mutthina Male Haniye from his directorial Bannada Gejje (1990).

The City Civil and Sessions Court, Bengaluru, passed an order in director Rajendra Singh Babu's favour, restraining any filmmaker from using the title. Rajendra Singh Babu, held a press meet regarding this issue. It has also come to light that Pogaru producer BK Gangadhar had the title Swathi Muttinha Male Haniye registered with the KFCC and had expressed his willingness to hand over the title rights to Ramya, and his name is mentioned in the injunction order.

He plans to discuss the matter with the Film Chamber, and later approach the court, if necessary. Meanwhile, Rajendra Singh Babu, in the presence of the current KFCC president, Ba Ma Harish also debated about the lack of clarity in the process of title registration and expressed his displeasure about using the title without his consent. From his interaction, it is clear that Rajendra Singh Babu is rigid about holding on to the title and using it in his future film.
