After 31 years, the legendary title Yarigu Helbedi returns to Kannada cinema, but with a completely new twist. Gone is the social drama of the original; this time, audiences are in for a full-on comedy packed with twists, laughter, and unexpected situations, says the team.

Producer Harish Ammineni, an engineering graduate from Ananthapur with a background in real estate, explains the vision: “We wanted to bring a fresh flavour to a beloved title. This isn’t just a remake, it is a comedy that connects with today’s audience while keeping the spirit of fun alive.” The film directed by Shiva Ganesh is a remake of the 2019 Telugu hit Meeku Maathrame Cheptha. Even though COVID-19 delayed production, we stayed committed to making it a genuinely entertaining film,” Harish adds.

Chetan Vicky, known for Hosa Dinachari and Mary, plays the lead. On his character, he shares, “It starts with a small lie, but soon he’s trapped in a series of bigger lies. The chaos affects his personal life, and the comedy comes naturally from these situations.” The film also stars Chaithra Achar, Ashwini Polepalli, Sharath Lohithashwa among others.

Comedy actors Appanna, who came to the limelight with Comedy Kiladigalu and was last seen in Pailwan, describes the film as “content-driven comedy from start to finish. Two hours and five minutes of pure laughter with no dull moments.”

Shivaraj, who penned the dialogues, hints at the surprises awaiting the audience: “The trailer already gives a glimpse of the fun, but the film itself takes the laughter and suspense to the next level.”

Shabaresh, playing Paapa, the hacker, recalls, “We began filming during the second lockdown. Most of the shoot happened in Bengaluru, and the energy on set was amazing. Everyone brought their best to make each scene hilarious.”

Ashwini, portraying Jacqueline, smiles as she recalls the fun on set: “Chetan and Appanna’s comic timing is incredible. It was impossible not to laugh during every take.”

Anand has handled the cinematography, while Shashank Sheshagiri has composed two original songs that add to the film’s playful tone.
