Rangayana Raghu, who enjoys being versatile with each role, believes that an artist should never stop exploring. “An artist must learn to adapt to every form of performance and make use of different platforms. Only then does the art grow,” he says, with his signature clarity and conviction.
After leaving a strong mark in Kannada cinema, Rangayana Raghu has now stepped into his first web series with Maarigallu, which is streaming on ZEE5. “This is my first web series, and I am happy that it comes from Puneeth Rajkumar’s banner,” says Raghu, adding, "An artist is like a farmer. He should keep sowing new seeds and growing something different each time. That is why I agreed to do this project when PRK Productions called me. The story, which is written and directed by Devaraj Poojari is meaningful and very well told.”
Raghu feels that digital platforms have opened new doors for actors. “Movies reach the audience in one big wave, but with OTT, People can watch our work in their own time, and that makes the connection even deeper,” he explains.
He points out that some of his recent films, such as Shakahari Agnyathavasi, and Moorane Krishnappa, have found great response on streaming platforms. “That gives me confidence that Maarigallu too will be received with love,” he says.
In Maarigallu, Raghu plays a role that is both simple and curious. The story is set in the 1990s, with a backdrop connected to Kadamba’s Kalaghatta. It carries a mix of nostalgia and mystery, bringing the essence of Karnataka’s soil to the screen.
With Maarigallu, ZEE5 and PRK Productions continue their effort to tell rooted stories with emotional depth. For Raghu, it is another chance to evolve as an actor. “Growth happens when we step into new spaces. For me, Maarigallu is not just a web series. It is a new path in my journey as an artist,” he signs off.
