Santhosh Kodenkeri, the director of films like Home Stay made in Kannada and Hindi, The Hill in Tamil, and Ondanondu Kaaladali Obba Raja, describes his next project, Ravike Prasanga, as a hybrid film. “Today, while content is valued, entertainment is also crucial in attracting and engaging the audience, especially families. This film considers all these aspects,” he explains, and adds, “Ravike Prasanga is made with a decent budget and features an intriguing story that hasn’t been compromised.

Interestingly, this will be the director’s first female-centric film, with the story and dialogues penned by his wife, Pavana. The narrative revolves around a beautiful blouse, starting from a tailor shop and leading to a courtroom. The film also captures the essence of middle-class family life, local culture, and traditions, with touches of humour and subtle depictions of South Karnataka’s language and food culture.

“Women attach great importance to their blouses, and the film explores what happens when a blouse design goes wrong. This aspect becomes the soul of the movie, sparking debates on various issues surrounding blouses, including the psychological pain, societal perceptions, and dreams of women,” he says.

Santhosh emphasises that Ravike Prasanga delivers messages about fighting for rights, promoting equality, and highlighting women’s sensibilities. “The blouse has become more than just a piece of clothing; it embodies emotions. I feel fortunate that my wife brought forth such a compelling subject, and her involvement was crucial for shaping a better vision,” he adds.

The director, in search of a plus-size actor, chose Geetha Bharathi Bhat for the lead role, with Suman Ranganath as a judge and Rakesh Maiyya as the lawyer. Other cast members include Sampath Maithriya as the tailor, Padmaja Rao, Krishna Murhti Kaatar, Praveen Atharva, Kushi Achar, and Rahu Padeshwar, among others.

Produced by Drusti Media and Productions, Ravike Prasanga features music by Vinay Sharma and cinematography by Muralidhar N.
