September has been a packed month for Indian cinema, and the weekly entrants into Indian theatres will intensify with the onset of Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 and the Diwali festival. PVR INOX's Executive Director Sanjeev Kumar Bijli spoke about the continual line-up of films.
"September was a strong month for us, with audiences turning out in large numbers and titles like Mirzapur: The Movie and Hanuman Ansh showing remarkable staying power. That momentum has carried into October, with Drishyam: The Conclusion and The Vvaan: Force of the Forrest delivering over 60% occupancy and near-housefull shows across our screens," said Sanjeev through a press statement.
He added, "With Jailer 2, Nayi Naveli and Street Fighter still to come, this is one of our most exciting line-ups of the year. These are big films made for the big screen, and with the festive season underway, we expect a packed month at the cinemas."
Rajinikanth returns as "Tiger" Muthuvel Pandian in Jailer 2, which is set to release on October 15. Meanwhile, the Yami Gautam-starrer Nayi Naveli, will open in theatres on October 16. The Hollywood actioner Street Fighter, which also features Vidhyut Jamwal, will release on October 16.
