A special tribute event remembering the works of the late legendary singer S Janaki, was held in Chennai. The event, which also saw the prescence of Janaki's daughter-in-law Uma Murali, was held at the Music Academy in Chennai.
In a statement to the press, Uma said, "This event has been organised very well, and I thank the organisers for that. If Janaki ma was still alive, she would have been very proud. Every artist who have performed her songs, gave so much life to them."
Singers like Uthara Unnikrishnan, Priyanka NK, Janaki Iyer, Sathya Prakash, Nikhil Mathew, Sai Vignesh, and Vijay Naren, performed songs sung by the late singer. Other musicians who were present for the event includes Gangai Amaran, AR Reihana, Devan Ekambaram, and Lydian Nadhaswaram. Actor Lakshmi Ramakrishnan was also present at the event. The event was conducted by The Crowdtheory Entertainment, which was launched during the function.
S Janaki passed away in July 11 due to age related illness. She was 88 at the time of passing.
