A Taiwanese actor and model has found himself at the centre of an unexpected social media buzz in India, after videos of him with an Indian woman sparked speculation about a possible romance.
The man in the viral clips is Cheng Chang Fan, a Taipei-based actor, model and musician. While neither Cheng nor the woman has publicly confirmed that they are a couple, his recent Instagram posts have prompted fans to connect the dots between their latest appearance together and a meeting that took place in India last year.
The story reportedly began in 2025, when Cheng shared a video from a hotel in India. In the clip, a female staff member welcomed him with an aarti and tilak. Cheng's warm reaction to her caught the attention of viewers, with several social media users pointing out what they perceived as a spark between the two.
The speculation resurfaced a year later when Cheng was seen in a video hugging and twirling an Indian woman. According to reports, the clip was initially shared on his Instagram Stories and is no longer available on his account. The caption added further fuel to the dating rumours. “And just like that… I flew her across the world, straight into my arms,” he wrote.
Cheng subsequently shared photographs with an Indian woman and penned a lengthy note about his admiration for Indian women. He described their warmth, emotional openness and the way they make strangers feel welcome. “Maybe the most beautiful thing about Indian women isn’t just what you see, but what you feel,” Cheng wrote, before describing the woman’s “light” and recalling the first time he saw her at the hotel. He also appeared to suggest that the first meeting had left a lasting impression on him, writing that, for once, it felt like “God was on my side” and ending his message with “धन्यवाद, भारत.”
However, the actor has stopped short of explicitly identifying the woman as his girlfriend. The woman has also not publicly commented on the speculation. Recent reports similarly note that the relationship remains unconfirmed, leaving social media users to interpret Cheng’s posts for themselves.
Cheng Chang Fan is an actor, model and singer from Taipei. He first built a presence in the fashion and social media space before moving into acting and music. He studied at the University of the Arts in London and has reportedly worked with luxury fashion names including Dior, Hugo Boss and Burberry.
He gained recognition as Kyan in the 2020 Taiwanese romance drama Craving You, which also starred David Chiu. Cheng later ventured into music, releasing his solo single 'Ain’t Nothing' in 2022. He had also been associated with music from Craving You, including the song '8 Seconds'. Away from the screen, Cheng is also associated with the floral business in Taipei, having founded Cheng & Mach Exotic Florist.
