Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle is continuing to outperform many films at the box office in India, registering over Rs 44.5 crore in its four-day run, a commendable feat for an anime film in the country. After opening with a historic Rs 13.25 crore on September 12, the film's collections kept consistently improving with each day, culminating with a 10 per cent increase on Sunday with Rs 14.5 crore. The film's successful first weekend earnings came up to over Rs 41 crore. Despite a massive drop on the first Monday with little above Rs 3.5 crore, Demon Slayer has minted close to Rs 45 crore and is treading an easy path to cross the Rs 50 crore mark in the next few days.
The latest film is a direct sequel to the fourth season of the anime television series as well as its fourth, fifth, and sixth film adaptations, following Mugen Train (2020) and compilation films To the Swordsmith Village (2023) and To the Hashira Training (2024). It was released on September 12 to positive reviews two months after its premiere in Japan, after beating the record of the highest-grossing film in the country.
Beating predictions, Demon Slayer received a strong response in the US and other areas, earning $132.1 million globally which constitutes $70 million from North America, $29 million from Latin America, $17.4 million from Europe, $6 million from Middle East, $5.2 million from India and $3.2 million from Australia, among other markets. This achievement has made it the biggest debut ever for an anime film, earning more than Pokémon: The First Movie – Mewtwo Strikes Back (1999), which previously held the record.
In Korea, Infinity Castle is already at $34.7 million, and is already the third-highest grossing movie of the year in the country.
The cast of the film features voices by Natsuki Hanae, Akari Kitō, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, Hiro Shimono, Takahiro Sakurai, and Akira Ishida.
