In a video circulating online, Mickey 17 filmmaker Bong Joon-ho can be seen revealing that he is directing a horror film next. Immediately after the Parasite director's revelation, filmmaker-composer John Carpenter said that he wants to compose the score for the film. Bong was attending a screening of Carpenter's classic film The Thing recently restored in the 4K format. The filmmaker called it a project that he has long been working on, a Korean feature with elements of action and horror set in Seoul. After Bong and Carpenter shook hands, the former reassured the audience that this collaboration would "seriously" and "officially" take place.
Bong's 2006 film The Host is also set in Seoul and tells the story of a beast that comes out of the Han River to terrify the city and its people. Reportedly, the filmmaker wrapped the shoot of his next film, an animation feature that revolves around sea creatures.
On the other hand, Carpenter scored for his own films, such as the iconic horror film Halloween, to name one.
