Bengali cinema has witnessed a historic moment with the success of the heist thriller Bohurupi, directed by the duo Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee. Released on October 08, the film has reportedly raked in 16.50 crore at the box office, solidifying its position as the highest-grossing Bengali film after the pandemic. Furthermore, Bohurupi ranks as the third highest-grossing Bengali film ever, trailing only behind Kamaleshwar Mukherjee's 2017 film Amazon Obhijaan and 2013 feature Chander Pahar.

Directors Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee expressed their gratitude for the film's success, stating that Bohurupi is beyond "just a film" and attributing the success to "the evolving tastes of audiences and their willingness to embrace compelling storytelling." They believe this achievement is not only about box office numbers but also about "breaking barriers for Bengali cinema on a national level." The directors hope that it will set the stage for "more regional films to achieve similar milestones."

The film's performance outside of Bengal is also notable. Reportedly, it has shattered records at multiplex theatres across India, grossing 5.5 crore, which is unprecedented for any film in Bengali cinema.

The film stars Abir Chatterjee, Shiboprosad Mukherjee, Ritabhari Chakraborty, and Koushani Mukherjee in the main roles.
