

Taiwan has submitted the supernatural comedy mystery film Marry My Dead Body as its official entry to the Oscars under the Best International Feature category for 96th Academy Awards. The film was selected by Taiwan’s Bureau of Audiovisual and Music Industry Development (BAMID).
Along with Marry My Dead Body, about nine films were shortlisted, out of which the supernatural comedy was selected for it “cleverly combines traditional customs with modern perspectives, has both humor and emotion, and showcases the characteristics of Taiwanese culture and life”.
The film revolves around a cop, who is homophobic, but forced into same sex “ghost” marriage to appease a spirit. It stars Hsu Kuang-han, Austin Lin and Gingle Wang. Marry My Dead Body is produced by Taiwan’s Calendar Studios and Bole Film. It is helmed by Cheng Wei-hao.
Meanwhile, nominations for the 96th Academy Awards will be announced on January 23, 2024 with the winners unveiled on March 10, 2024.
