Ever since it premiered on the streamer, Netflix's Squid Game has been breaking multiple records, apart from also becoming one of Netflix's biggest-ever TV shows. Now, the creator of the series, Hwang Dong-hyuk has confirmed that the hit series will have a season 2.

"So there's been so much pressure, so much demand and so much love for a second season. So I almost feel like you leave us no choice! But I will say there will indeed be a second season. It's in my head right now. I'm in the planning process currently. But I do think it's too early to say when and how that's going to happen. So I will promise you this...Gi-hun will come back, and he'll do something for the world," he said during a red carpet celebration for the show on Monday.

However, Netflix has not formally announced a second season.

Squid Game, starring Lee Jung-jae (as Seong Gi-hun) and others in the ensemble cast, centres on people who are so desperate for money that they agree to take part in a series of schoolyard games with a deadly twist.

The dystopian survival drama grossing almost a billion for the streamer with 130 million watchers, according to Bloomberg. The South Korean show is currently Netflix's most-watched original show
