ZEE5 had announced the streaming date a few days ago for Jab Khuli Kitaab, one of its upcoming film projects starring Pankaj Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia in the lead. The official trailer of the film was unveiled on Monday.
Written and directed by Saurabh Shukla, Jab Khuli Kitaab promises to be a bittersweet comedy-drama, revolving around a family that finds itself in a unique situation — Gopal (Pankaj Kapur) has decided to divorce his wife Anusuya (Dimple Kapadia), after five decades of a marriage, when she reveals a long-buried secret about her life. The twist? Anasuya has just woken up from a coma, and remains critical in her health, and determined in her choice not to divorce Gopal at any cost. Amidst the chaos of a life-and-death situation, the couple’s kids with their own families return home, trying to navigate the topsy-turvy situation.
While promising to be light-hearted in its treatment, the film promises to explore themes like loyalty, trust, companionship and other complexities that come with a rift in a long-standing marriage.
Jab Khuli Kitaab also features Aparshakti Khurana, Samir Soni, Manasi Parekh, Nauheed Cyrusi, and Devyani Ratanpal in the lead cast. Presented by Applause Entertainment, the film is produced by Naren Kumar, Saurabh Shukla, Mahesh Korade, Sameer Nair, Deepak Sega under ShoeStrap Films banner.
Jab Khuli Kitaab will begin streaming on March 6.
