We had earlier reported about the demise of Mushtaq Khan, veteran Hindi film actor who passed away on Thursday after battling liver cancer. Since hen, tributes have been pouring in from the film fraternity, including heartfelt condolences from his co-stars and colleagues.
Sunny Deol, who worked with Mushtaq in Gadar (2001), wrote in an Instagram post, “Sad to hear about Mushtaq Khan. He was a nice human being and a fine actor. Have fond memories of him. My condolences to his family. May they find strength in this difficult hour."
Welcome filmmaker Anees Bazmee shared a picture of Mushtaq Khan, writing, "Shocked and speechless by the passing of Mushtaq Bhai (my balu). A truly remarkable artist and a beautiful soul. May Allah bless his soul and give strength to his family and loved ones." Sanjay Mishra, who too worked with Khan in Welcome, said about his former co-star, "I had heard that his health was poor, but I never imagined he would pass away. This is truly saddening news."
Among others, Rajpal Yadav too shared an emotional post on the actor’s demise, recalling that he met him hours before the actor’s demise. “We spoke, he looked at me, and even shook my hand. He was listening to everything we said and reacting to it as well. I still cannot believe that he is no longer among us. Mushtaq Bhai was, is, and will always remain a beloved figure and actor. I offer my heartfelt tribute to you with a heavy heart," Rajpal wrote.
Among others to pay final respects to the late actor were Rakul Preet Singh, Anupam Kher, Gadar filmmaker Anil Sharma, and Raza Murad.
Born in Baihar town in Madhya Pradesh's Balaghat district, Mushtaq Khan, who began his career in the early 80s, worked in nearly 400 films across his 45 year career. Some of his most popular appearances came in films like Welcome, Aashiqui, Hum Hain Raahi Pyaar Ke, Hera Pheri and Pyaar to Hona Hi Tha.
The late actor was first diagnosed with cancer nearly five years ago. He had been undergoing treatment at Mumbai's Nanavati Hospital, and had been hospitalised for over 15 days when his illness relapsed.
The last rites for Mushtaq Khan were held earlier this afternoon.
