Director Navjot Gulati's Pooja Meri Jaan, starring Huma Qureshi and Mrunal Thakur, is finally set to have its digital premiere four years after the film wrapped production. On Saturday, ZEE5 announced that the film will premiere on the streaming platform on October 02, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti.
The streamer made the announcement with a caption that reads, "Some stories make you question what you see. Some make you question what you believe. This one’s gonna make you question everything in between."
Produced by Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films alongside Amar Kaushik, the film explores the unsettling repercussions of obsession, allegations and prejudice, showing how the deeds of one person can contribute to broad judgement and unfounded suspicion.
Mrunal Thakur stars in the titular role of Pooja Meri Jaan, a woman who faces the blame for his lover Aniket's death. Meanwhile, their close friend and a lawyer named Sana (Huma Qureshi) finds herself torn between supporting Pooja and grieving Aniket's passing even as turbulence becomes imminent in the titular character's life.
Recently, Mrunal said that the film has a layered story that is also unpredictable while adding that it keeps the audience guessing as well as blurs the lines between reality and perception.
Pooja Meri Jaan also stars Vijay Raaz, and Vikram Singh Chauhan. The film is written by Kanishka alongside director Navjot Gulati, and it credits Niren Bhatt for the additional screenplay and dialogues. On the other hand, Vipasha Arvind is the co-director of the film.
On the technical front, the film has composer Vishal Mishra. With a runtime of around two hours, the film has received an 'A' certificate from the Censor Board.
