Golmaal 5, the fifth instalment of the popular comedy franchise Golmaal, got a release date on Saturday. Headlined by Ajay Devgn, the film is now set for release on January 8, 2027.
The makers also shared a new poster of their film, featuring the lead cast. “Laughter, Fun, Joy, Happiness and Family… Bas, Nothing Else,” Rohit Shetty captioned the announcement post. Besides Ajay, Golmaal 5 stars Kunal Kemmu, Arshad Warsi, Sharman Joshi, Shreyas Talpade, and Tusshar Kapoor, in the lead. Fronted by Ajay Devgn, the series revolves around a group of mischievous, aimless friends, Gopal (Devgn), Madhav (Arshad Warsi), and his other friends who get into absurd, chaotic situations.
Additionally, Akshay Kumar will be seen in a key role as well. The Welcome actor confirmed the news on Rohit Shetty’s birthday in an Instagram post, penning, “On your birthday, the madness just got bigger and louder. Excited to be joining this crazy family of 'Golmaal 5'! Let the chaos begin.” Other regular cast members like Johnny Lever, Sanjay Mishra, Mukesh Tiwari and Ashwini Kalsekar will also be part of the film.
Rohit Shetty officially announced the film in March this year. The first four instalments of the Golmaal franchise released in 2006, 2008, 2010, and 2017 respectively. However, this is the first time since Golmaal (2006) that the franchise makers are going for a non-Diwali release.
There were also reports that Kareena Kapoor, who was a part of Golmaal 2 and Golmaal 3, would return for the upcoming instalment.
Ajay Devgn, who has already had a major hit this year with another franchise comedy Dhamaal 4, has two big releases coming up this year. Besides Drishyam The Conclusion, which will release on October 2, there’s also Chauhaan.
