AR Rahman took to social media to unveil the official music video of 'Asha Forever', a tribute single to the late Asha Bhosle, on her birthday. The composer recorded the song along with Asha Bhosle, before her passing.
Speaking about the tribute song, Rahman said, “I am deeply grateful to our Honourable Chief Minister, Shri Devendra Fadnavis ji, for joining us to honour Asha Ji. Asha Bhosle was both Maharashtra and our national pride, she was our greatest strength in taking our music global. Her voice and music transcended every boundary, and it is very special to celebrate her legacy.” Asha's granddaughter Zanai, who was present at the release, has provided additional vocals for the song.
Amitabh Bhattacharya has written the lyrics for 'Asha Forever'. Nazeef Mohammed has directed the music video which has been created with a blend of AI and real visuals.
The music video also revealed that this was created in collaboration with international artists like Boy George, R.E.M., Kronos Quartet, Brett Lee, and Gorillaz.
Asha Bhosle, who was born in 1943, passed away at the age of 92, in April, due to multiple organ failure.
