Over the last two days, King director Siddharth Anand put out three cryptic posts on X that, when combined, read: "It's time for the world to celebrate." The timings of the last two posts, 12:00 am of October 30 and 31, suggest that Siddharth is alluding to Shah Rukh Khan's birthday. Google-eyed netizens say that the filmmaker is hinting at a King promotional material, likely a teaser, being set to release on November 02, coinciding with the superstar's birthday.
The upcoming film is set to mark Shah Rukh's first release in theatres since 2023's Dunki, directed by Rajkumar Hirani. His wife Gauri Khan is producing the film under their Red Chillies Entertainment banner in association with Marflix Pictures. So far, the makers of the film have dropped a title reveal teaser, among other promotional materials, which hint at an action-packed entertainer from the superstar.
King also stars Deepika Padukone, Shah Rukh's daughter Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Abhay Verma, Arshad Warsi, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Saurabh Shukla, among others. In a recent interview with Hindi Rush, Saurabh Shukla said that almost the whole Hindi film industry is part of the Shah Rukh Khan starrer. "All the big names are in it," Saurabh said about the highly anticipated film.
King has director Siddharth himself, Kahaani filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh, Suresh Nair and Sagar Pandya as its screenwriters, along with Abbas Tyrewala as a dialogue writer.
The upcoming film brings Shah Rukh and Siddharth Anand back together after their collaboration on 2023's Pathaan, which ended an unusually dry spell for the superstar at the box office. Pathaan marked his first blockbuster after 2014's Happy New Year.
King is set to release in theatres worldwide on December 24, coinciding with the Christmas festival season.
