Actor Anupam Kher continues his work in international cinema. On Saturday, the actor announced his 556th film Out of Fashion, a Swedish-Belgian title. The film is directed by Jens Jonsson from a screenplay by Sunil Munshi, who also stars in it. Out of Fashion also features international actors such as Helena Bergström, Bahar Pars and Krista Kosonen.
Announcing the project, Anupam Kher wrote, “A long time ago, I read in a film book, “Cinema has no language.” I heard the words, but I don’t think I truly understood them then. Today, as I find myself on the set of a Swedish-Belgian film, surrounded by people, places and a language different from my own, I feel their meaning. Cinema finds its way to the heart. A look, a silence, a moment of tenderness!! These need no translation. They remind us that, beneath all our facial differences, we recognise the same hopes, fears and love.”
Expressing his gratitude to join the film, Anupam described it as a tender and beautiful film with a role that has touched him. “God has been kind to give me the chance, even after all these years, to step into new worlds and discover something new in myself,” the actor noted.
Anupam Kher's previous credits in non-Indian cinema include Bend It Like Beckham, Bride and Prejudice, The Mistress of Spices, Lust, Caution, The Other End of the Line, Silver Linings Playbook, A Family Man, The Big Sick, and Hotel Mumbai. Notably, Silver Linings Playbook earned him a lifelong friendship with his co-star Robert De Niro.
The upcoming film is produced by Julia Gebauer and Siri Hjorton Wagner. Expressing his joy in working with the producers and the director on Out of Fashion, Anupam noted, “Every film is a new beginning. This one has already reminded me that, when a story comes from the heart, cinema truly speaks every language.”
