The official trailer of Abhinay Deo-directed Doosra, the docu-drama that had been stuck a long time in the production stage, was unveiled on Monday. The makers also announced October 23 as their film’s release date.

Featuring Plabita Borthakur in the lead role, Doosra promises to tell two stories at once. One of these stories follows a young girl trying to find her voice while surviving in a patriarchal and oppressive system who finds inspiration in the heroic rise of Indian cricketer Sourav Ganguly. It also tells the story of a nation which found its strength under the guidance of the aggressive captain who spoke a new language on the field. As Ganguly leads India to one historic victory after another, the protagonist gradually gathers courage to rebel against her family and everything that curbs her freedom.

The supporting cast of Doosra includes Ankur Vikal, Samidha Guru, Twisha Joshi, and Krishna Gokani. Plabita is most known for her work in the 2017 film Lipstick Under My Burkha.

Abhinay Deo, the director of Doosra, is known for directing Delhi Belly (2011), Blackmail (2018) and the Karisma Kapoor starrer OTT series Brown (2026), among other works. Ram Sampath, who also gave music for Delhi Belly, is the composer for the film.
