‘Phata Patakha’, a new song from the Yami Gautam-headliner fantasy family-comedy, Nayyi Navelli, was unveiled by the film’s makers on Tuesday. The song has been composed and produced by GV Prakash Kumar, with lyrics by Vayu and vocals by Madhubanti Bagchi.
Picturised on Yami, the peppy song is a dance number which sees her character matching steps with a bunch of zombies. The song goes with the horror cum fantasy-comedy theme of the film, where Yami plays a newly-wed who is either a daayan or a goddess. The choreography has been done by Vijay Ganguly.
Talking about the song, composer G.V. Prakash said, “’Phata Patakha’ gave us the opportunity to experiment with a very unusual musical world. The idea was to take the eccentricity of Nayyi Navelli and translate it into a track that feels instantly celebratory.”
Singer Madhubanti added “The song is pure, uninhibited madness packed with humour and incredible energy. Recording it was an absolute blast because the track is just so larger-than-life with that playful, high-octane edge.”
Directed by Balaji Mohan and written by Himanshu Sharma and Divy Nidhi Sharma, Nayyi Navelli also features Addinath M Kothare, Anurag Thakur, Sunita Rajwar, Mita Vasisth, Aaditya Kulshreshth, Susmita Mukherjee and Prateek Pachori in pivotal roles. The film is scheduled to release on October 16.
