Director Anurag Kashyap's film Bandar, starring Bobby Deol in the lead role, is set to release in theatres on June 05, Friday. Ahead of the film's release, first-time actor Agu Stanley Chiedozie reminisced about his years-long journey, ranging from the realm of digital content creation to cinema. Sharing behind-the-scenes stills from the sets of the Bobby Deol starrer on Instagram, Agu wrote, "7 years ago, I came to India as a student from Nigeria. One of the first Hindi films I ever watched was Gangs of Wasseypur. Since then, Anurag Kashyap sir became one of my favourite filmmakers."
Agu added, "Today feels like a full-circle moment. From creating content for fun… to now making my Bollywood debut in Bandar, directed by Anurag Kashyap sir and starring Bobby Deol sir. Grateful for every lesson, every struggle, every person who believed in me and every step of this journey. Can’t wait for you all to see this one."
Recently, the actor spoke about his love for India and shared his experience with COVID, especially with regard to how his friends in the country helped him deal with the pandemic. Agu is quite fluent in Hindi as well; many have interviewed him as he spoke 'Shudh Hindi'. It remains to be seen whether he has any dialogue in the upcoming film and whether his character in it speaks Hindi.
Meanwhile, fellow content creators, including some who have turned actors, have congratulated Agu on his Hindi debut. "So happy for you Stan," wrote Shelvin James, who recently starred in the Malayalam entertainer Athiradi. "Congratulations bhai hope to act with you soon," wrote content creator-actor Ved Campbell Maddison.
Coming back to Bandar, the film features Bobby Deol in the role of a television star whose popularity is on the wane. Written by Sudip Sharma and Abhishek Banerjee, the film also stars Sanya Malhotra, Indrajith Sukumaran, Saba Azad, Jitendra Joshi, Raj B Shetty, Sapna Pabbi, Ankush Gedam, Riddhi Sen, and Nagesh Bhonsle, among others.
